Sword of the Spirit – Wisdom #1134

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                               1134

“Wisdom”

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.Ephesians 5:15-17

Our days are evil and the rulers of this age embrace and promote it. The ‘wisdom’ of this world is foolishness and contradictory to the Wisdom of God.

For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,”1 Corinthians 3:19

Worldly ‘wisdom’ denies our Creator choosing to believe that we have evolved by chance. Worldly ‘wisdom’ turns God’s order upside down calling evil good and good evil. The good news is that worldly ‘wisdom’ will perish and the Wisdom of God is eternal.

Therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

Ah, you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?” You turn things upside down!

Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?Isaiah 29:14-16

True Wisdom is from God. It begins with a deep respect and reverence for God which the Bible calls ‘The fear of the Lord’.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!Psalm 111:10

God’s Word exhorts us to be careful how we walk. We must avoid worldly ‘wisdom’ and walk in the way of God’s Wisdom and Truth. All we have to do is to humbly ask God for His Wisdom.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; –James 1:5 Proverbs 2:6

Asking God for Wisdom is easier said than done because of our innate pridefulness.

Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.Proverbs 3:7 Proverbs 11:2

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.Proverbs 3:5 1 Corinthians 3:18

May you take care to walk in God’s Wisdom setting an example for others to follow and come to know Jesus Christ and to receive eternal life through Him.

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.Colossians 4:5-6
