Sword of the Spirit – Stay Awake #1015

SWORD of the SPIRIT                                                                                                         1015

“Stay Awake”

Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” (Mark 13:33-37)

When I read our reference Scripture, I am reminded of my time of service in the US Navy where I would periodically be assigned night watch duties. This was a responsibility not to be taken lightly since so many lives depended upon your vigilance. To be caught napping or shirking this duty was considered a serious offense—especially during times of war.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, may I submit to you that we are at war – spiritual war, and Jesus says to all of us, ‘Watch, and stay awake’. This spiritual battle began when Satan tempted Eve with the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden and the battle continues into the present day.

Our problem is that we have become complacent and so caught up with the pleasures and concerns of this world that we do not give a thought to the spiritual battle being waged. In effect, we have fallen asleep. “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)

The enemy does not attack us with a sudden rush for surely we would immediately defend ourselves against such an attack. No, the enemy attacks us gradually and subtly through one compromise after another. Prayer is taken out of schools and any reference to Christianity is removed from public places. To preach or take a stand on the principles of God’s Word is considered hate speech and punishable by the law of the land. History books are rewritten and false religions are being taught in our public schools under the guise of cultural education. Our movies, television, books, and music are laced with profanity, sensuality, and what God’s Word considers to be sexual abominations.

All these changes and more have occurred slowly, over time as the Christian church, the Body of Christ has been complacent, asleep, and even compromising on the Word of God and immersing themselves in the cesspool of worldliness. In far too many cases one cannot tell where worldliness ends and Christianity begins – the lines have been blurred.

Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you; But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. (Revelation 3:3; 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6)

Wake up church!

Sword of the Spirit – Victorious Living #1014

SWORD of the SPIRIT                                                                                                1014

“Victorious Living”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:56-57)

The ultimate victory over death is ours through Jesus Christ.  “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55) But can we live in victory in the day to day here and now?

I confess that oftentimes I do not feel like a victor in the midst of the daily grind of life as I trip and stumble my way toward the holiness standard we are all called to be. …it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16) However, the short answer to my earlier question is, Yes, we can live this life in victory through Jesus Christ.

There are three enemies we face in this life: The world, our flesh, and the devil.

Jesus taught that the cares of this world can hinder the Word of God from bearing fruit in our life. …but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. (Mark 4:19)

Victorious living in the world however is found through faith in Jesus. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:4-5)

Our flesh is sinful by nature and there will be a battle fought as long as we are on this side of heaven. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit; For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.  (Romans 7:24-25; 1 Peter 3:18; Romans 6:14)

The devil is a created being. He is not a deity but he and his minions can place stumbling blocks in your path. As the prince of the power of the air he works to use the things of this world to entice you and choke the Word from bearing fruit in your life. He appeals to the lust of your flesh seeking to cause you to stumble. Day to day victorious living over this third enemy is again found through a close, intimate, continual relationship with Jesus. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken; for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory; Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Psalm 16:8; Deuteronomy 20:4; Ephesians 6:13)

Yes, ultimate victory is ours on the last day through Jesus and yes, victorious living today is possible through the indwelling presence, power and grace of Jesus Christ. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world; Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (1 John 4:4; Ephesians 6:10)

Sword of the Spirit – Recalculating #1013

SWORD of the SPIRIT                                                                                            1013

“Recalculating”

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

I am a planner by nature. I set goals and I plan strategies and tactics to achieve them. I think things through and then I take action. Recalculating. Inevitably, something dynamic ‘upsets the apple cart’ and plans have to be reevaluated, adjusted, modified or replaced. That’s life. Change is the only constant. Get used to it.

One thing I learned in my management career is that plans are made – not to be filed away and forgotten – but rather to be a living, dynamic, malleable and actionable document to help us stay on track to achieve set goals.

There is one plan however, God’s plan, that is unchangeable and is the standard that should guide, mold and shape all of our plans. God’s plan is detailed for us in our Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth book (BIBLE) and we should reference it on a continual basis.

Our work business plans should be guided and benchmarked against God’s plan. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. (Proverbs 16:3)

Our life plans for our family, education, finances, and careers should be guided by God’s perfect plan. And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21) As we pray over our plans, committing our way to Him, seeking to follow Him, our spiritual ‘ears’ will hear His guiding voice.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21)  Sometimes God’s voice will say, ‘Continue’ and at other times it will be ‘Recalculating’. Either way we should adjust our steps to align with God’s direction, trusting that His way is the best way.

My times are in your hand…; And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose; For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Psalm 31:15; Jeremiah 29:11; Romans 8:28)

We are at the stage now where my wife and I are empty nesters and my work career is winding down. My plans have taken on a ‘bucket list’ characteristic as I become more keenly aware of how short life in this body really is. Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that…” (James 4:13-16)

May the Lord give you the desires of your heart as He directs your steps. May you hear His voice clearly as He guides your heart and plans for your life. May all your goals in this life align with the ultimate goal of eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sword of the Spirit – The Wedding Garment #1012

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                          1012

“The Wedding Garment”

But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. (Matthew 22:11)

Jesus taught a parable comparing the kingdom of heaven with a wedding feast hosted by a king for his son. It was a custom of the times that the wealthy, such as a king, would provide all their invited guests with garments suitable for the occasion. Although not explicitly stated in the Scripture, theologians consider this custom to be the basis of the parable.

As we unpack this parable we see that the king invites everyone both bad and good to the feast after being rejected by those initially chosen to attend.  Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. (Matthew 22:8-10)

The comparison is clear. The king is Father God and Jesus is the groom. We are the church and the church is the bride of Christ. All of us, good and bad, are invited to come to Christ. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God;

And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him; For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people… (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 5:9; Titus 2:11)

The wedding garment is free and supplied to us by God through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We cannot come to the wedding feast clothed in a counterfeit garment.

The only wedding garment acceptable to God is the robe of righteousness of Jesus Christ.be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith;  I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness…(Philippians 3:9; Isaiah 61:10)

I am comforted and rejoice in the fact that I was invited while still steeped in sin. but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) There was nothing I could do to earn the invitation. I could not fabricate my own righteous garment and by the grace of God I did not have to. We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment…(Isaiah 64:6)

We all have a choice to make concerning Jesus Christ. The invitation has been extended. We can either choose to remain busy with the affairs of this world and reject the invitation or accept the free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus. We cannot be lukewarm and try to have it both ways by continuing to live in sin and attend the wedding feast wearing a garment of our own making.

May this new year be your born-again year – a new creation in Christ. Happy New Year!

Sword of the Spirit – Being Christmas #1011

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                                  1011

“Being Christmas”

And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)

I work in a big box retail environment and Christmas felt different this year. It seems like it came and went before it ever arrived. Christmas decorations were intermingled with Halloween and Thanksgiving for a period of time. There was a short period of Christmas background music following black Friday and no more. By mid December we were back to a background of aggravating secular rock music as we busied ourselves in replacing everything ‘Christmas’ with next year’s Springtime product set.

As I contemplated my ‘bah humbug’ experience this year, the Lord spoke to my heart about the error of anticipating a Christmas event or season. He challenged me to ‘Be Christmas’ all year long.

What does it mean to ‘Be Christmas’, I asked? Being Christmas is being Christ like was the reply.

Being Christmas is being holy …the child to be born will be called holy….  Being holy is more than seeking moral purity. Being holy is first and foremost being a devoted, set apart, and sanctified servant of the Lord. it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)

Being Christmas is having a no-compromise, high integrity character with grace and truth in proper balance. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) An all grace character is too tolerant and prone to compromise. An all truth character works to hurt and alienate rather than draw people into a personal relationship with Jesus. An example of all truth, no grace is “You’ll be kicking coals in Hell if you don’t repent!” An all grace and no truth approach opens the door to ‘many paths’ to salvation. A balance of grace and truth speaks to the fact that Jesus is the only way to the Father, that He loves you and died for your sins that you may have eternal life, and all we need to do is repent and accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

Being Christmas is to be a peacemaker. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)  Jesus, our Prince of Peace, brings a peace that is different from that of the world. Through Him we have peace with God (forgiveness of sin) and the peace of God (calmness in the midst of trial). Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you… If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. (2 Corinthians 13:11; Romans 12:18)

Being Christmas is to be a Spirit-filled, Born-again Christian working to fulfill the Great Commission. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor…” (Isaiah 61:1-3); …And Jesus…said to them… Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… (Matthew 28:16-20)

May you Be Christmas all year long. Merry Christmas!

Sword of the Spirit – Two Face #1010

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                            1010

“Two Face”

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:7-8)

Harvey Dent is a fictional character from the Batman series of comic books and movies. When I read about being double-minded in the Bible I think about Harvey Dent. Harvey was the District Attorney – an upstanding member of the community until he was disfigured by a mobster. He then allowed bitterness to take root in his soul and he became the evil and unstable character, Two-Face.

Is it possible that we who profess to be Christians can also be two-faced and double-minded? God’s Word cautions us about the tendency we all possess to be two-faced. …bring no more vain offerings…I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly (Isaiah 1:13)

Unforgiveness – This is one area where we can be two-faced. Someone has hurt us, with malice and forethought or unintentionally, it does not matter. They may be coworkers, neighbors, fellow church members, or family. What matters is that we have allowed bitterness to take root in our heart and we harbor ill-will and hatred toward them. How can we approach a Holy God in worship when we have a hardened heart full of bitterness? leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. (Matthew 5:24)

Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ (Matthew 18: 32-33)

Lukewarm – We can be two-faced or double minded in that we seek as much worldliness as we can and still feel good about our Christian walk of faith. In a sense we are people of the world who are ‘playing church’. This makes us lukewarm in the eyes of Jesus. I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16)

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. (Matthew 6:24)

Doubt – When our relationship with Jesus is an occasional Sunday or Holiday experience we become spiritually anemic. When the trials of life come we will lack the stability of a firm foundational relationship of faith and trust in God. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:6-8)

May the Holy Spirit speak clearly to your heart and show you areas of double-mindedness that need to be cleansed. May the Spirit of God draw you into a closer relationship with Him. May He give you the supernatural ability to forgive as He forgave you. May the Lord pave the way, prepare hearts, and open the doors for reconciliation and restoration of broken relationships.

Sword of the Spirit – Old Manna #1009

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                                  1009

“Old Manna”

Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat. This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Gather of it, each one of you, as much as he can eat…And Moses said to them, “Let no one leave any of it over till the morning.” But they did not listen to Moses. Some left part of it till the morning, and it bred worms and stank… (Exodus 16:15-20)

Why did they disobey what the Lord commanded concerning the manna? The root cause of their disobedience was their lack of trust that God would continue to provide for them. In much the same manner this root cause of distrust drives our disobedience today as well.

They hoarded the manna. How many of us hoard God’s provision for us today and disobey His command to care for our parents, the poor, and the elderly when it is in our God-given means to help others? What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?…If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (James 2:14-17)

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. (Proverbs 3:27)

Many churches and charitable organizations are concerned about the push for tax reform that would eliminate the deduction for charitable giving. Would people continue to be faithful in tithes and offerings if there was no tax deduction for it? Where is your heart concerning bringing the full tithe, holy and set apart as the Lord’s? It is not a matter of generous giving. It is a matter of obedience and trust.

Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (Malachi 3:8-10)

Like yesterday’s manna, some hold onto the past and long for it because of fear of what tomorrow may or may not bring. Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?”For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. (Ecclesiastes 7:10)

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:34)

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)

Manna was a type and foreshadowing of Jesus, the true bread from heaven. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. (John 6:49-50) Like the manna provided by God, our daily, fresh relationship with Jesus is key to a strong trusting faith in God. It is from this foundation of trust that we can walk in obedience.

May you be continually filled with the daily manna of God through Jesus Christ.

Sword of the Spirit – Compromised #1008

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                    1008

“Compromised”

…but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did. (Psalm 106:35)

I was writing a quick note to my work team the other day referencing the set up for a Christmas shopping area. I caught myself starting to write ‘Xmas’ instead of ‘Christmas’. I refused to make that shorthand compromise and took the time to write out the full word. While this may seem like a small, insignificant thing, it did give me pause to consider how extensive compromise has become in the Body of Christ.

Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, (2 Corinthians 6:17)

Have you noticed how Christians seek to ‘blend in’ with the world? Compromise is evident in the provocative clothes we wear and the movies and games we are entertained by. Christians have even come up with our ‘almost cuss words’ to use instead of the ‘F-bomb’ and using the Lord’s Name in vain as the world does. Our words sound like the vulgarities used by the world but are not the same. For all practical purposes however, we have spoken inappropriately. Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil. (Matthew 5:37)

Charles Spurgeon once said, “Discernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It is knowing the difference between right and almost right.”

It is becoming increasingly evident given our world society’s downward spiral into moral decay of the importance to have a sanctified, set apart, no-compromise, Christian lifestyle character.“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste…It is no longer good for anything… (Matthew 5:13) Know this: your lifestyle character may be the only ‘Bible’ others will ‘read’. The lost will not readily listen to the testimony given by a compromised Christian.

Many corporate church denominations have succumbed to the temptation to compromise on the infallible Truth of God’s Word in order to continue to attract ‘followers’. We have it backwards. The truth of God’s Word, Jesus, the Living Word of God is supposed to impact our culture for the better. Instead we have allowed modern cultural norms to undermine and attempt to redefine who Jesus is and what He said.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

I stand with Franklin Graham when he said,  “In the end, I would rather be on the wrong side of public opinion than on the wrong side of Almighty God who established the standard of living for the world He created…”

May the Holy Spirit give you discernment to know what is right and almost right. May you have the courage to live a no-compromise Christian lifestyle. May you be salt and light to this world ready in season to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sword of the Spirit – When God is in it – #1007

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                      1007

“When God is in it”

And the Lord said to Gideon, “With the 300 men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hand… (Judges 7:7)

Gideon and his army were already hopelessly outnumbered against the 135,000 Midianite troops yet God chose to pare his army down even further to only 300 men. Gideon and his men trusted in God and acted in obedience and God gave them a mighty victory.

As I reflect on my life walk with Jesus, I see how His plans for me have always worked for my good although at the time some circumstances did not feel very good. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

I see that oftentimes that God was stripping away the things of this world that I trusted in much like He did when paring down Gideon’s men. God wanted me to learn to trust in Him more and more. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5)

Upon further reflection I see how full of religion and ritual I was when I first came to Christ while the desires of my heart remained in the world. This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; (Matthew 15:8) God continued to pare me down and peel away the veneer of religiosity. God wants our obedience. And Samuel said… Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22)

I wonder if Gideon wanted a second opinion because God chose to bolster his faith by having him go down into the camp and hear the enemy’s dream and interpretation for himself. I confess that I have often questioned what God was doing in my life.

When financial hardships struck I questioned the principle of tithing. I repented of coveting the Lord’s tithe and obeyed. My testimony is that God is faithful and His Word is true: The remaining 90% has miraculously been and continues to be more than sufficient to meet our needs. Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (Malachi 3:10)

Little is much when God is in it. Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

May you seek Him and His presence in all things. Remember that all things are possible with God. But Jesus…said…with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)  May the Lord open the eyes of your heart to see His Loving hand at work in all your life circumstances to mold, shape, equip, guide and provide for you.

Sword of the Spirit – More Than Conquerors #1006

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                1006

“More Than Conquerors”

What then shall we say to these things?

If God is for us, who can be against us? …

Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? ….

Who is to condemn? …

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:31-37)

Paul, in this portion of his letter to the Romans hits us with rapid fire questions and concludes with the statement that we are more than conquerors through Jesus. To conquer is to be victorious over an enemy or an opponent. It also means to overcome a problem, weakness, or a challenging objective. So how can you be more than a conqueror? What takes it up a notch?

I recall a time in my management career where I was called before a tribunal to determine my fitness to lead a team of engineers whose organization I had recently been appointed to manage. The LGBTQ community raised the issue because of my Christian faith. In prayer before the meeting the Lord reminded me not to be anxious. And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” (Luke 12:11-12)

I vividly remember having a peace and calmness that was surreal throughout the proceedings. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

I answered all their questions to their satisfaction and my assignment was approved. In this situation I was more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ. As Paul wrote in our reference Scripture, we are more than conquerors because Jesus is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. …Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us… (Romans 8:34)

You can be more than a conqueror through Christ. Through Him you can conquer a sin habit or an addiction: smoking, alcohol, drugs, and more; Through His Holy Spirit you can overcome and conquer depression and physical illness. And yes, you can even conquer death gaining eternal life through Jesus Christ who died for your sins and is resurrected to prepare a place for you. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Through Christ you can be more than a conqueror over all the trials and issues this world will throw at you. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

May you be more than a conqueror in your day to day walk of faith through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
