Sword of the Spirit – Now I See #1382

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                               1382

“Now I See”

One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see. – John 9:25

Whenever I have an eye checkup it always amazes me that with the flip of a few dials that a blurry mess of letters and numbers becomes crystal clear. I marvel at the physiology of vision, how light is transformed through our eyes and processed by our brain allowing us to see the world around us. We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made.

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; – Psalm 139:14

Now I See – Human Worth: Our physical sight is only one aspect of our marvelous creation. Of greater importance is that we were made in the image of God. Nothing else in God’s creation is granted this dignity of being a spiritual soul that reflects our Creator God. It is this Truth that gives human life non-negotiable worth and why abortion and human trafficking is such an abomination to God.

And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. – Genesis 1:27

Now I See – My Need for Jesus: Because of Adam’s sin I was born with a sinful nature and was blinded to my need for a Savior. Through the measure of faith God gave me I was able to see the Light of the Truth of the Gospel through hearing the Word of God. I now realized that I was a sinner and on the wide path to eternal destruction and separation from Him.

For…God has allotted to each a measure of faith. So, faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ – Romans 12:3; 10:17

I would not have come to know sin except through the Law. For I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.” For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! – Romans 7:7; 3:23; 7:24-25

Now I See – The Way to Eternal Life: I was a slave to sin, entangled by it and unable to free myself from it. Through repentance and the baptism of the Holy Spirit I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Now I see my way clear to walk the path of His righteousness.

Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. – John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17

I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. – Galatians 2:20

Now I See – With A Discerning Spirit: We are in the world, but no longer of the world. Having been born-again by the Spirit of God as His sons and daughters we are ambassadors for Christ in this world. Until the Lord calls us home, we will remain at war against the desires of our flesh to sin. God has equipped us with the weapons for spiritual warfare and the victory through the power of His Holy Spirit.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. – Ephesians 6:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

Now I See – By Guarding My Eyes: Satan uses our eyes to gain access to our hearts. The bling and immorality of this world attacks us on every front of life. We guard our hearts and souls by guarding our eyes.

The eye is the lamp of the body; so, then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light; Be of sober spirit, be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour; For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. – Matthew 6:22; 1 Peter 5:8; 1 John 2:16

Now I See – Focused on Jesus: It is good to have spiritual blinders on in this world to keep our eyes focused on Jesus as we walk His narrow path of life. The world is fraught with distractions, not only to lure and appeal to the lust of our flesh but also to frighten us and attempt to weaken our faith.

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. – Matthew 16:24-26

Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2

But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. – Matthew 13:16
