“Stability”

The Lord is exalted…and he will be the stability of your times… – Isaiah 33:5-6
We desire stability in life. We do not like it when the earth quakes under our feet or when the economy, job markets, and world peace become unstable.
In spite of the uncertainty and instability in the world, the LORD, is our sure foundation and Rock of stability upon which we stand and are secure. He is the stability of our times.
Stability in Faith – Our salvation is sure and secure in Him.
And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard… – Colossians 1:21-23
Be watchful, stand firm in the faith…be strong. – Corinthians 16:13
Stability in Hope – We must remain steadfast in hope, waiting patiently for Him for He is faithful and true to His promises.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. – Hebrews 10:23
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation – Psalm 42:5
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. – Psalm 55:22
Stability in Emotions – The enemy seeks to steal our peace and make us anxious about the many ‘what if’ scenarios that can happen. Keep your mind stable and stayed on Him and receive His peace.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3
He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. – Psalm 62:6
He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. – Psalm 112:7
Stability in Purpose – We must remain steadfast in following Jesus and not be the one that He talks about putting his hand to the plow and looking back. Our stability in purpose stems from seeking first His kingdom and righteousness.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:58
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; – Colossians 1:10-11
Stability in Trials – We will have trials and challenges in this world. Jesus told us as much. Our stability in trials is found in Jesus who overcame the world, and through Him we too are overcomers.
In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world; Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. – John 16:33; James 1:12
Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me; For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. – Psalm 119:133; Galatians 5:1
You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip; And you have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a broad place. – Psalm 18:36, 31:8
Stability in Our Times – I find it interesting that the Greek word translated ‘stand firm’ is ‘histemi’. It is pronounced HEE-stay-mee. We do not stand firm in our own strength and ability. Our stability in our times is found only in Jesus: ‘HE STAY ME’.
When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants, it is I who keep steady its pillars. – Psalm 75:3
Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. – Ephesians 6:13
