Sword of the Spirit – The One Who Conquers #1296

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT                                                                                               1296

“The One Who Conquers”

The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. – Revelation 3:5

When you hear these words of Jesus, do you hear a promise or a threat? Do you feel hopeless or hopeful that your name is in the Book of Life? Are you confident in your eternal salvation or do you feel that you can never be good enough to be a conqueror or overcomer?

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? – 1 John 5:4-5

Your name is in the Lamb’s Book of Life when you placed your faith in Jesus and were born again by the Holy Spirit. Your sin was conquered by Jesus on the cross. You are an overcomer, a conqueror through faith in Him and nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? … Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:31-38

This promise in Revelation 3:5 is for believers giving us assurance of eternal life through Jesus.

He has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him; And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. – Colossians 1:22; Colossians 2:13-14

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. – John 10:27-29

Are we perfect now that we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior? No, we are not. We deceive ourselves if we say we are sinless.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. – 1 John 1:8

We will stumble on occasion and give in to temptation as we seek to walk the narrow path of faith in the Lord. Jesus continues however to be our advocate, interceding before the Father on our behalf.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. – 1 John 1:9; Psalm 103:14; Hebrews 4:15

The world wants a wide path of inclusivity to eternal life and Satan has provided numerous counterfeit methods and doctrinal lies to deceive us into believing that we can earn salvation or find it through someone else. The Truth is that salvation is ONLY found through faith in Jesus.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life; And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” – John 3:16; Acts 4:12

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. – 2 Corinthians 5:21

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit – Titus 3:5

There will come a day when God says, ‘Enough!’ and the world as we know it will come to an end, and after a time, there will be the Great White Throne Judgement before God. This is the Day of the Lord, and He will be the only one making decisions that day.

Multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. – Joel 3:14

Books will be opened at the Day of the Lord. Which book will your name be in?

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. … And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. – Revelation 20:12-15

Today is the day of our decision for Christ. Our tomorrow is not guaranteed. Our eternal destiny through Jesus is guaranteed however and sealed with the Holy Spirit.

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit – Ephesians 1:13

I exhort you not to wait. Do not buy the lies of the world that being good enough, on balance, measured against others will grant you eternal life. Jesus is the only way. Make a decision to be a conqueror, an overcomer through Jesus now while it is ‘today’.

But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin; Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” – Hebrews 3:13; 4:7
