SWORD OF THE SPIRIT 1104
“Complete in Christ”
For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. – Colossians 2:9-10
Like a puzzle missing a piece to complete the picture do you feel incomplete in your Christian walk?
Meditate for a moment on the depth of the Truth of God’s Word in our reference Scripture: Jesus embodied the ‘whole fullness’ of God. He was and is complete in God.
“I and the Father are one.” – John 10:30
Consider then, that as born-again Christians we have been filled in Christ. We are complete in Him. To be complete is to have all that is necessary or appropriate.
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:19
To be complete in Christ is to be made whole.
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases – 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Psalm 103:3
Our completion in Christ makes us righteous before God.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. – 2 Corinthians 5:21
Our completion in Christ gives us the promise of eternal life with Him.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life – John 3:16
Being complete in Christ is to be a joint heir with Him – a child of God.
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life; But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – 1 John 5:12; John 1:12
Being filled and complete in Christ means forgiveness of our sins and freedom from condemnation.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace; There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus; For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. – Ephesians 1:7; Romans 8:1; Romans 6:14
What do you feel you are lacking? Is there an empty hole in your soul that you keep trying to fill by good works or doing penance or trying harder to be better and more deserving? You cannot fill that empty puzzle piece by your own devices. You can only be made complete in Christ Jesus through faith in Him and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Then he said to me… Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.–Zechariah 4:6
