SWORD OF THE SPIRIT 1102
“Share Your Truth”
As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled. – Mark 5:18-20
Every one of us who has accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior has been commissioned to share the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
… Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:16-20
Every one of us who has received the free gift of salvation has come to Christ in the bondage of sin and by His sacrifice on the cross has been set free – our chains have been broken. This truth needs to be shared with those who also need to come to Jesus.
So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?” They went out of the town and were coming to him. – John 4:28-30
Every one of us will encounter ‘divinely ordained opportunities’ to share our truth. People will cross our paths, situations will occur, a question will be asked, and you will sense the prompting of the Holy Spirit deep within your soul to broach the subject and share what Jesus has done for you and what He can do for the people you are speaking with. We need to be ready for these divine opportunities.
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus… be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching… – 2 Timothy 4:1-3
I confess, and you can probably relate, that I have not always been ready and for a variety of lame excuses have quenched the Spirit and remained silent. Lord, forgive my silence and failure to speak and share the Truth of your Word. I do not want stones to speak in my place.
And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” – Luke 19:39-40
May the Light of Christ, His indwelling presence and power, shine forth freely in your life.
May you be empowered by the Holy Spirit with boldness to speak Truth to dispel darkness and break the chains that hold people in bondage to sin.
May you share your truth – your story about what Jesus has done for you and may that story plant a seed for the Holy Spirit to nurture in others that they too may be set free and receive salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 5:14-16
