“The Lord will Fight for You”

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts…and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord‘s, and he will give you into our hand.” – 1 Samuel 17:45-47

Where are the battle lines drawn before you today? So many of us are faced with battles from many fronts and we feel overwhelmed.

One battle front may be physical health for our self or a loved one.

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise;  O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. – Jeremiah 17:14; Psalm 30:2

Another battle front may be relational where there is division in family or friends and there is a need for forgiveness and reconciliation. Strongholds of bitterness have hardened hearts and only the Lord can soften them. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. – 2 Corinthians 10:4

Regardless of the battles you are facing – Victory will come through Jesus. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:1-2

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent; Be still, and know that I am God. – Exodus 14:14; Psalm 46:10

This call to be still and silent does not imply passivity and inaction but rather to have the inner peace that surpasses all understanding – the peace from the indwelling presence and power of Jesus Christ. Be strengthened by prayerfully meditating on the Word of God. May these Scriptures encourage your heart as you face your battles in the Name and Power of the Lord of hosts.

You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf…’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.” – 2 Chronicles 20:17

for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’ You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you.’ – Deuteronomy 20:4; Deuteronomy 3:22

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles; What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? – Psalm 34:17; Romans 8:31

Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. – Psalm 35:1 Corinthians 15:57
