“What the Future Holds”
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:34)
Have you ever been on an amusement park ride and you could not wait for it to stop so you could get off? Our current social and political climate has become such a ride that has me saying, ‘Stop the world, I want to get off.’
Unless you are totally off the grid, you are aware of the degradation of our society. Our schools have become war zones. Respect for human life seems to be at an all time low given the road rage incidences on our streets, and the drive by shootings and murder that occur daily in our communities. There was more public outcry for a lion and gorilla that were killed than there is for the thousands of babies murdered in the womb each week.
I never in my wildest imaginations would have believed that ‘gender identity’ would become the issue it has become, opening the doors for anyone to violate the privacy and safety of others by being allowed to use any public restroom of their choosing – and this being sanctioned by law!
Then there is our current political climate – candidate choices that have many of us fearing that we will be voting for who can do the least harm over the next four years rather than voting for who can benefit our society.
My heart breaks for those who have denied Christ or are Christian in name only by playing church and have compromised with the corruptness of the world. … they have all turned to their own way, each to his own gain, one and all. “Come,” they say, “let me get wine; let us fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow will be like this day, great beyond measure.” (Isaiah 56:11-12)
The lukewarm or cold hearted toward God would do well to heed the Word of God: “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7)
No matter how bad the present times seem the Lord speaks peace and comfort to us through His Word. I will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) No matter how bleak the future looks; we know who holds the future in His hands. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
My times are in your hand; (Psalm 31:15)
Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. (Proverbs 3:25-26)
When I think that I want the world to stop so I can get off, the Lord speaks encouragement to my heart: ‘The world will stop soon enough and you will get off when I call you home to be with Me. Until then, be salt and light in the world. Be my witness and share the Gospel of My salvation. Seek first My kingdom and My righteousness and occupy until I come’
