“But God”
Ephesians 2:1-5 (ESV) And you were dead in the trespasses and sins …But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved…

The word ‘but’ is a negative word in that its use tends to negate what has been said prior to it. “Your ideas deserve merit, but…” Positive statements and compliments are suddenly negated and the listener is about to hear the heart of the speaker in what follows. It is interesting to note the occurrences in the Bible where the word ‘but’ is used to negate the negative – turning them into positives by what follows when the word ‘but’ is combined with the Name of the Lord.

So, no matter what your circumstances are at the moment or what challenge you will be faced with in the future, remember to reflect on ‘But God…’
