“Accountability”
Luke 16:1-2 Jesus told his disciples: “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. So he called him in and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’

Imagine being held accountable for every thought. What if all your thoughts were projected in the form of 3D holographic images for all to see? Who would be allowed to see these images? Would they be rated ‘G’ for general audiences?
How about in the workplace? How would a replay of your behavior while away on a business trip appear to your spouse, boss or Pastor? How diligent are you in your work behavior when the boss is away?
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men … – Col 3:23
What about your personal and business finances? Would your process of filling out an expense report stand the scrutiny of your boss? Would your stewardship practices stand up under an independent audit? Do you attempt to cheat God out of the first fruits of your increase that He declares to be holy and set apart for Him?
Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me… In your tithes and contributions… Bring the full tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. – Mal 3:8
We must all recognize that it is utter foolishness to think that we can lead secret lives before God.
Having accepted Christ as our Savior, our sins were forgiven and forgotten. We became born-again by the Spirit of God. Why then, have we allowed the shadows of sin to creep back in? Can we walk in the penetrating light of Christ and yet walk in the darkness also? Scripture says no.
If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. – 1 John 1:6
God is calling His church to holiness. He is asking us to prepare to give an account. When the accuser points the finger at us, will Jesus be our advocate or will He say, ‘I never knew you?’ We cannot have it both ways, we are either an open book worthy of being examined in the full light of God or we are living a lie giving the appearance of fellowship with Christ, while harboring secret darkness.
May the double-edged sword of God’s Word penetrate, cut away, and expose any dark places in your life for you to overcome in Jesus’ power and strength.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.- Heb 4:12-13
Thank God that His mercy is new every morning and His forgiveness and sanctifying power remains ready to cleanse, soothe and strengthen. Commit every facet and every aspect of your life to Christ and may your entire life be an open book before Him without fear or shame.
